Message from Borough Councillor Anne Dawes

I recently attended Police‑led Active Bystander Training, which focuses on safely stepping in rather than standing by, helping to make our communities safer and stronger.

I have arranged two Active Bystander sessions for residents, which will take place at:

  • St Peter’s Church, Boughton Monchelsea – Tuesday 14 July at 7pm

  • St Mary’s Church, Chart Sutton – Tuesday 6 October at 7pm

These two‑hour sessions will give residents practical, values‑led tools to step in early and safely when something doesn’t feel right.

Used to address everything from anti‑social behaviour to serious violence, this toolkit‑based training was developed by a retired Police Chief Inspector who was a key member of the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit.
